Am I Allergic?

I didn’t know I was allergic to eggs, milk, peanuts, and walnuts until I was 25 years old. My doctor was specific that the blood tests revealed that I was allergic, not intolerant of these foods. I found myself feeling run down and tired all of the time, having sinus headaches, hives, difficulty breathing, stomach pain and nausea. Not exactly a way you want to feel almost every day.

I went through a doctor telling me to just take allergy medication if it helped and he wouldn’t approve the blood tests for allergies when I asked him. He said that as long as it helped me I should just take a pill every day. I hate that mentality, and even more-so, I hated that he was so condescending and sure of his fix.

I wanted to know for sure what was going on , so I found a new doctor who approved the tests immediately after hearing my symptoms and hearing about the struggle I was going through with my previous doctor. You guessed it – 4 positives for 3 of my main protein sources: egg, milk, and nuts.

If you are experiencing symptoms of like these, try eliminating the Top 10 Allergens from your diet and see how you feel. You can slowly reintroduce the foods back into your diet to see if any of them are causing your symptoms. Blood tests and others aren’t always necessary to get your results, but they are required to pinpoint the food culprit, like anaphylaxis.

Some of these symptoms can also be caused by eating MSG and it is often mistaken as allergies when these reactions happen.
